If you know me, you know I love carbs. And I love bagels. This was a thing way before I had celiac. I used to go to Einstein’s Bagels ALL. THE. TIME. And when they opened up one at our Memorial Union at Arizona State University, I was there almost every day. Bagel and cream cheese? Yeah. Bagel sandwich? Yes. Breakfast bagel? Oh hell yeah.
So when I was diagnosed as a celiac, I thought my life would be totally different. Well, the bagels sure are different, but my love of them is still thriving. While I love Canyon Bakehouse bagels, they are totally different than the bagels that I used to eat – those boiled bagels. But, after a trip to Portland Oregon, I found something that finally satisfied that craving for a particular type of carb.
MY SOUL FOR A GLUTEN-FREE BAGEL
New Cascadia has THE BEST GLUTEN-FREE BAGELS on the planet. Hands down. I’ve tried all the bagels on the plant (that are gluten-free and dairy-free) and these are the best. However, they’re in Oregon. Are you in Oregon? Probably not (based on my Google analytics of who is reading my blog), and I know that I don’t live in Oregon (although I visit Portland at least twice a year).
I used to have to smuggle bagels in my suitcase and keep them frozen for when I was in need. I used to have to phone a friend and ask friends or relatives that lived in Portland to send me some via Priority mail. However, recently they started offering their breads, bagels, and baguettes on FoodyDirect. This online store offers a kazillion foods, but only one matters – those dang bagels.
ORDER THEM HERE
Trust me, they’re incredible. And Foody Direct got them to me in a timely matter. I was able to tear directly into a baguette, and I froze the rest for a rainy day.
Yes, it’s expensive to ship. But, gluten-free bagels you guys, gluten-free bagels. Baguettes you guys, gluten-free baguettes. THIS IS WORTH IT. TREAT YO’ SELF!
